Since 1998, the Wisconsin Lions Foundation (WLF) has focused on raising awareness about the diabetes epidemic through the statewide Diabetes Awareness Project. What started with awareness activities focused on diabetes prevention and quality care within Wisconsin communities has evolved over time to meet the needs of people throughout Wisconsin. The WLF Diabetes Awareness Project is proud to announce a new funding opportunity for Wisconsin schools through the School Technology Grant, with applications being accepted from April 1st – June 15th.
Any Wisconsin school or school district with students who use continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) and require monitoring during the school day may apply. Up to 20 schools will be awarded funding of up to $1,000 to purchase technology to monitor students with diabetes who use a CGM. Examples of technology that may be purchased with this grant include, but are not limited to, smartphones, tablets, iPads, smart devices that receive CGM alerts, and WIFI upgrades. The applicant must be a representative of the school or school district requesting the assistance.
This grant will assist schools in making a safer and more supportive environment for students with diabetes. Selected grantees will be notified in August, with the intention to have the necessary equipment in the school by the start of the school year.
